Here is a list of my highest priority features. These are also listed in the 'about' section in the game.
Multiplayer
- this is coming along soon.
- I currently support split screen multiplayer on the PC if you have x360 joysticks attached
- online multiplayer is coming along. Machines are connecting, maps are being sent across and the players are moving around. Lots more to do.
Transferring tiles/objects/actors between worlds
- While I really like having all your stuff encapsulated in a small world file that can be copied around easily, you often want to bring in items from other worlds without copying everything.
- you will be able to import individual items (tiles/objects/actors/vehicles) and either replace or add to your existing set in a world.
Cloud sharing of worlds
- You will be able to upload your world and download other peoples worlds and rate them. Maybe even attach some achievements/leaderboards to it based on rating...
Game Events
- being able to hook up conditional events to run when you step on tiles, dig tiles, burn tiles, etc.
- this replaces the simple "USE" hook up that is in there currently. you will be able to do things like allow doors to open only if you have a specific key, etc. Or make traps go off when you step on them.
Vehicles
- I really want to cars/planes and boats. Plus you will be able to make your own and paint your own of course. I haven't decided what the first interface will be for building your own.
Birds and Fish
- play as birds and fish or just populate the world with them.
More Biome Controls
- currently you can tweak the biome generation. I'd like to expose some values for that so you can influence the tree, mountain and sea generation.
Advanced Shaders
- currently not the highest priority because it would not work well on the low-end ios platforms, but definitely in the future I'd like to add realtime shadows and spotlights, at least in the PC version. I really like the idea of exploring caves with a spotlight in the dark.
VR
- would like to support the Occulus Rift and the new PS4 VR (if its good). But I'll probably leave it until a retail kit is announced.
Voice Chat
- definitely worth doing. not particularly hard. Would be great to have some sort of facial animation tech because I'd like you to be able to see the other players lips moving when they talk. This probably would require some sort of overlay 2d animated faces to be enabled, so something to think about further down the line.
